Who Should You Use To Star In Your Company’s Website Video
When it comes to making plumbing website videos and other types of professional service promotional videos there are different ways to present your company, and any one of them might be most effective. One approach is the down home approach, and an example of this type of plumbing video is the Bewly Plumbing video found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhApi669P24.This video is narrated by the office manager, The video presents the company in a sincere and straightforward way, and the company plumbers and office managers are the only characters in the video.
Another marketing approach can be considered more Hollywood style. Professional script writers and actors are employed to create the video, and induce the public to do business with the company that ordered it. Within this approach are found many potential sub approaches and one on them, described below, can be described as the Dodo Do it You Selfer versus the Capable Professional.
In this video class, the script first presents a problem that needs repairing. This video is about a plumbing problem, however the story could just as well have been about an electrical problem, a carpentry problem, a landscaping problem, or any problem that can be tackled by a DYI homeowner, or by a professional. We first see the DYI trying to fix the problem. He is overwhelmed and onlyu makes the problem worse. Then the video offers a solution. The solution is to call the company making the video and let them fix the problem.
The presentation of this, not uncommon theme, is both obvious and exaggerated and professionally executed. The do it your selfer is “Home Improvement Harry, who can fix just about nothing.” As the video starts, Harry is fiddling with some outdoor plumbing pipes. The pipes start to spray water everywhere, and when Harry tries to leave the backyard, he can’t even open the gate.
As Harry continues to try and escape from the backyard, the video transitions. The narrator tells us that “When its time to call a pro call Village Plumbing.” The mood changes and a plumber drives up in a Village plumbing truck. He walks to the home, in what appears to be fast forward, and the scene shifts to indoors.
The video now show us the company presenting their plumbing services to the couple in need. The scene is impressive. The company representative shows the couple a written brochure, which delineates all the company’s services and prices. The narrator invites viewers to call in and learn about the company’s, $300.00 rebate on tankless water heater installations.
As the video nears its conclusion, we are informed by the narrator that “Village Plumbing will save you money…. They sure helped Harry.” As he finishes the sentence we see the plumber shaking hands with Harry, who is now wearing dry clothes and is composed as he stands alongside the repaired outdoor water meter.
So which of these two approaches is more effective. I believe the answer is one of preference. The Bewly Company sales video comes off as very sincere. The office manager may not be a Hollywood actress, but she is seen as personable. She was also done up for the video, with stage makeup and a hair do. If a local company can present there company with a capable employee like her narrating the video, it can work.
The second video is perhaps a bit gimmicky; however, it is very well done. It presents the contrast between an amateur and professional plumber in an amusing manor, and the video presentation of a company representative sitting down and going over price options with the couple is winning. It shows us the company is structured professionally and presents their product professionally, and this is likely to win trust with the audience.
